Happy Loves Her New Floor - Check it Out

Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring

Happy Loves Her New Floor – Check it Out.

I just have to let you know about my new flooring and how blooming brilliant it is! Ok so before you roll your eyes and fall asleep…Please read on if you are considering buying a new floor covering and if you’re not, read on anyway as you never know this post could change your life! HaHaHa. Well I can’t promise that it will change your life but it will help to educate you a little, for when you do need too!

Right lets get back with the programme! When we viewed this house we were over the moon, as you can imagine! but more so for the fact that it had a wooden floor (perfect for doing wheelies in the wheelchair lol!), walking over it with shoes on,  well it just felt and looked like another hardwood floor…but once we moved in and started walking around with our shoes off…well it just felt different!

It felt cushiony and warm, it also has grooves in it, which we have since found out that it is non slip!  Whilst moving furniture in and out of rooms, there was a few ocassions where I didn’t want to look at the floor for fear that it had marked…infact there was a few ocassions like that and each time there was no markings, dents or scratches at all…

Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring @ happy loves rosie
I decided to investigate and had a look online to see what my floor was made of, because it looks so much like wood but feels springy and warm under the feet.  I came across this website and had a good ole look around and realised that my floor was Luxury Vinyl Flooring! Na! surely not Vinyl! Vinyl can be cheap and nasty…my floor is just the bestest!

Well Yep! It has been confirmed by the builders that I then contacted to find out more!

This is 21st Century Luxury Vinyl Flooring and I can tell ya gals that it don’t come much better than this stuff! It’s non slip, warm underfoot, easy to keep clean, hardwearing, reasonable on price and looks so like wood…oh Gosh I feel like doing an advert lol!It has so many plus points for us…apart from all of the above…it’s perfect for Freddy to get around in his wheelchair…It’s non slip and therefore much safer for both Rosie and Freddy what with all of their EDS problems and its also good for little Max who is 98 in doggy years, who has little accidents now and again  (Bless!)

Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring @ happy loves rosie

So the conclusion of this Post is to PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you are thinking of buying wood flooring, that can be slippery when wet…and very expensive …Please go with Luxury Vinyl, there are so many patterns to choose from and especially if you live in a flat or maisonette!…it’s so much kinder to the neighbours lol!(PS – sorry about the quality of the pictures of late…lots have been taken on my mob phone or hudl and they both have rotten cameras – should be back to normal pictures taken on my camera soon ;))

What type of floor do you have?
Have you ever considered buying luxury vinyl flooring?

Rosie Reviews - Vision Direct Contact Lenses

Rosie Reviews - Vision Direct

Rosie Reviews – Vision Direct Contact Lenses

Today I am reviewing Vision Direct’s Amethyst contact lenses…I decided that I would like to give coloured contact lenses a try again after a bad experience a few years ago…It was enough to put me completely off, but you know how time heals and all that, so I thought I would give them another go, especially after hearing all the good reviews about Vision Direct.

I ordered Amethyst Fresh Look Colourblends lenses on the Thursday and they arrived Friday morning…What a brilliant service! They came packaged in a neat box and when I opened them they had put a mini pack of Haribo’s in there! What a neat touch!…Ok! so they didnt last long, but what is a gal to do, when Haribo’s are staring you straight in the face with your name on them! 😉

visiondirect.ie review

There is so much choice on their website and they are soooo competitive in price…my lenses were for colour only but you can choose whatever you want with or without perscription.  They have so much choice in brands and quantities, they really are a one stop shop for contact lenses.

They include in the pack a leaflet on how to put in your lenses, just incase you are new to them like me!  My lenses came in a blister pack filled with solution, which I was able to take out very easily.  I must admit I was a bit nervous, especially after the last time, but I took a deep breathe and to my surprise they went in a lot easier than I thought!

I blinked a couple of times, as they felt a bit scratchy at first, but only after about 5 minutes that feeling had settled down and I didnt feel a thing, they were so comfortable…I felt really strange, looking in the mirror and not seeing my blue eyes.

Ok so this is me without the Amethyst colourblends in…

and this is a picture of me with them in…

Rosie Reviews - vision direct
They have changed my blue eyes quite a bit  making them more mauvy green…it has proved quite difficult to get a picture of the true colour, but here is another picture for you to see…

vision direct contact lense review
I went out in the evening and got so many compliments…Although my boyfriend said he preferred my blue eyes, I like them for a change…I am thinking of all the other colours I can add to my wardrobe, by just changing my eye colour.  I also feel more intelligent with them in…silly isnt it! but I do! …lol!

I particularly like these lenses because they are such a natural colour, unlike others that you see out and about and also they are crystal clear which is a must, especially for driving etc…I think I am going to get a few other pairs, you know, try a few more colours and then I will have my perscription added to them.

I have really enjoyed reviewing these lenses and I hope that my opinion has helped you in someway or another, in deciding where to buy your next contact lenses.

Bye for Now.

HOW POOR TILING CAN AFFECT YOUR HOME

If you are considering selling your home in the near future, it is only natural that you would want it to look its best. You may be thinking about redecorating your home to increase the value and make it more appealing for potential buyers. After all, people will be far more interested in a house that looks like time and effort has been put into it, compared with a run-down house that will require a lot of work once they have purchased it. (Luckily I was renting my poor delapidated previous house lol!)

Room to Breathe

cath kidston and happy loves rosie

Room to Breathe.

One of the plus points of moving to a new home is all the latest mod cons!  After living at Meadow Cottage for 7 years with bog standard fixtures and fittings…it really is a dream here…It actually feels like we have won the lottery!

I have a switch for everything! infact I thought I was putting a bathroom towel rail heater on for the first couple of weeks of moving here, every morning, only to realise it was a heater for my airing cupboard! What bliss! being able to air my washing off in a cupboard with a heater! (I know! it’s the little things aye!)

cath kidston and happy loves rosie

I used to drool through magazines and websites, looking at the latest bathrooms and kitchens, wishing I could have the same Kind of styles.  Oh don’t get me wrong…I know my Kitchen at the old house was popular in magazines, but it wasn’t really workable. There was no space on the worktops to move and cooking became a chore not a pleasure at all!

Now in my New Kitchen I can feel a few bakes and cakes coming on…I have not filled the it up at all…leaving plenty of space on the worktops to prepare and serve…I am not saying that it will not change over the months to come, but it is such a lovely place to prepare food in that I dont think it will…
vintage enamel kitchen love
As for all my vintage enamel…yes i still have it, but i think i am going to have to cull it down a bit this year.  Just moving in here, well I must have got rid of about 50 black sacks of unwantables to charity…which made me feel really good…I feel that all my brain fog was despatched away in those black sacks lol!

Living here at 2A is like a dream come true…Lights that work, toilets that flush, doors that lock, switches for everything, a modern kitchen sink and room to breathe is the best thing…

What do you love the most about your house?

Goodbye Holivan & Hello New House

vintage 1952 Holivan Caravan

Yes it was the end of an era for us! here at the Happy House! And I really feel that I need to update you all, as it is so overdue….!

House Move

You should all know by now that we have moved into a wheelchair friendly house and life is so much easier for my Freddy, he can access the whole ground floor in his wheelchair, so he can now wash up for me (cool! ;)) and even cook me a dinner now and again…Yes this house is brilliant…

The dining/Living room is one big space with light wood floors, perfect for transferring from room to room in a wheelchair! I havent been able to fill this house up so much either as Freddy needs room to move about and the fact that he can move about so easily makes it so much worth while.

Happy @ 2A

Future Use

As this house is a brand new one built for ‘future use’…we can’t do any major constructon to it for a year…it’s a warranty thing!…But in a years time…well 8 months time actually, we are going to have a lift put in for Freddy to access a bedroom and we are also having a wetroom put into the bathroom it already has been fitted with wetroom pipes in the bathroom…Hence ‘Future use’.

At the moment Freddy has his bed in the Living room, but we have positioned it so it looks like a settee, with some units around it, so it fits in really well to the design of the room…we have done something like a room setting in IKEA.  We have also bought an armchair for Freddy to sit in, for a change from his bed…we have bought it in dark grey…and although I could never imagine me liking grey, it fits in very well with our decor and is a brilliant support for him.

New Ikea Chair

Scuse the bad quality picture…it was taken on my phone….which is sadly not an iphone 🙁

Goodbye Holivan

Of course moving to this new wheelchair friendly house was so perfect for us, but alas some things had to go!…yes and you have probably guessed it…or seen adverts on my blog/facebook, but I had to sell our Holivan!…She had become very neglected by us since Freddy’s accidents…and I had always felt so guilty looking at her, remembering the fun times that we had had together!  We had originally bought her in 2009 for a craft room for Freddy and he had lots of happy times crafting in there!  Holi was also famous…being featured in many magazines one of which was Cath Kidston’s!, which made me so proud!

Bye Bye Holivan caravan

But all good things must come to an end and as this house does not have enough space at the side to get her into the garden…the inevitable had to happen!…I knew it was on the cards…but as it happened I managed to find a lovely lady to buy Holi from us…Her name is Kirstie she has two beautiful children and her husband is a 1950’s motorbike enthusiast! I know Holi is in good hands and I know you might think me silly! but I felt like I needed to find a like minded Happy family to take her off our hands and that is what I felt with Kirstie…I know they will look after her for the next part of her life…and we are going to say in touch, so hopefully I will be able to bring you pictures of what they do to her…which is the bestest…don’t you think!

New Craft Room

Freddy now has a craft room in the house, it is situated in the Living Room, it is the perfect place for him as it is in the same room as his bed…this room is multi-purpose…it’s the hub of the house, its the sitting room, Freddy’s bedroom,  the dining room, the television room, the garden room…all in one!  I have put the 1950’s kitchen dresser next to his table to hold all of his craft bits, along with a few other tatty cupboards and units (just how we like them!) to house all of his mixed media materials and he loves creating there…

Happy House Living Room @ 2A

I am going to leave you now as Freddy is shouting up at me, (I am in my craft room upstairs) if I would like a vanilla latte…yes! now that is an offer I can’t refuse!

Bye for now my lovlies xx

Love you all and thanks for being so patient with me xxx

The Power of the Handwritten Letter

The Power of the Handwritten Letter.

In 2010 Letters to Juliet came to our screens and quickly became a hit, grossing over £53,000,000, But what makes this story so powerful? Is it because it encompasses an age-old love story in a modern setting? Or the cheesy ending we all saw coming, yet still adored? Perhaps it is because, even in today’s digital world, a handwritten letter is still an extremely powerful thing.

Based on a real-life tradition, the film introduces us to the Secretaries of Juliet; volunteers who offer their time to answer letters to Juliet seeking advice on love and relationships. Many letters have even been mailed to Juliet’s wall, allowing the Secretaries to help people who perhaps can’t afford to travel all the way to Italy for answers.  Every year the 5th and 6th of September are celebrated days throughout Verona in homage to Juliet’s birthday.

The Psychological Effect of Handwritten Letters

A study was carried out at London Metropolitan University, measuring the emotional reaction to both e-mail and handwritten letters. The results showed that recipients of the handwritten letter felt more engaged and impacted, believing that letters feel more honest to us than e-mails. Other findings from the study showed that people find e-mails less trustworthy or believable.

It seems that knowing that someone has taken the time to handwrite a letter in today’s digital world has a much greater effect on us than we might think.

Changing Lives One Letter At a Time

There are many ways to feel the powerful effect handwritten letters can have. Here are our top three ways that you can get involved:

‘Open When’ Letters

What you will need:
Paper and Pen, Brown Envelopes, String, Stamp (optional)

Choose one of your friends and write letters that they can open when they are in different moods. As a starting point you could write letters to be opened when: they have had a bad day, need cheering up, are sick etc. Alternatively you could write one week’s worth of letters that they can open every morning to get their day started. Decorate them to make them even more special.

The World Needs More Love Letters

What you will need:
Pen and Paper, Envelope, Printer

Keep your eye on the ‘The World Needs More Love Letters’ website, where people request a letter to help take their mind off things such as physical and mental illness and loneliness. Write a letter by the designated deadline and send it off to the address specified in each request, to help a total stranger have a good day.

You Are Beautiful

What you will need:

Pen and Paper, Card Blank, Envelope, Ribbon, Stamp

This is the quickest and most simple way to get involved in using the power of handwritten letters. All you have to do is write the words ‘you are beautiful’, put it in an envelope and label it ‘read me.’ On your daily travels, simply drop it on the ground or leave it on the bus or train for someone to find. Then sit back and bask in the knowledge that your small act will have a tremendous effect on someone.
