Beautiful Painted Oak Furniture

happy loves rosie on Television

I have been out and about lately, furniture shopping with my Mum and also my Son Daz, they both have cash to splash, unlike me, who has always liked to buy second hand! A bit of a bargain hunter is me! Daz has recently bought a 50 inch Television for his flat…I can hear you all gasping at the thought of how big this TV is!…yes it is humongous!…we have a van type car and it just about fitted in there, when we bought it! Anyways…he has been looking for a Television stand to put it on…so as you do I looked on Google and found Furniture Plus, they sell the most gorgeous oak furniture…Daz is like me though, he likes the painted white wood furniture and is seriously thinking about investing in the lovely Television table above…

My Mum on the other hand loves the more traditional Oak unpainted furniture that they also sell, but recently she has had her Living Room decorated and wanted a new nest of tables and she has also fallen in love with this set above from the same store!

But as for me…I am sooooo in Love with this…white oak chest of drawers

…Beautiful Chest of drawers…oh honestly! What I wouldn’t give for these pieces of furniture! Now don’t get me wrong! I still love my old vintage furniture…but I am also lusting after these pieces! I feel my life would be so organised with these drawers in my life!

My home is full of old furniture, all bought secondhand – I particularly like the 1930/40 utility furniture but it is so expensive to buy now. I have a lovely kitchen pantry from 1956 it still has the work ticket on the back saying when it was made. I have never bee brave enough to paint any furniture but would love to paint my old knacker kitchen chairs.

I buy very cheap, old furniture from second hand warehouses and paint it with Annie Sloan chalk paint, and do commissions for customers using their existing furniture. I also sell pieces very similar to the ones you are showing above. Local shops sell similar things at exorbitant prices, and you pay an arm and a leg to have a piece commissioned by them. You could have these things for a fraction of the price and the satisfaction that you've done it yourself! xx

All sorts of 'recycled/upcycled' shops springing up all around here where I live. I swear if I see one more piece of furniture painted in that thick, chalky paint I shall scream! I'm favouring the 'Scandi' look at the moment. I remember my Mother having those G-plan and Schreiber pieces which I loathed at the time but would love to have now and which are going for gold up here!

I live in a small one bedroom apartment, so white furniture makes things look more spacious than dark wood furniture. But I like lots of color!Brenda
