I have an extreeeeeme collection of vintage lace doileys and have been racking my brains for projects to do with them, they are so pretty and have so much work in them.  I really hate the idea of cutting them up in any way.....So the other day I had a brainwave!

I loosely sewed them together to make a half curtain (top) and a lampshade cover (above)....a simple idea...and when I am fed up with them, they will be easy to take down and re-use without causing any damage!

I think they look pretty impressive too!
What do you think?

  1. Wonderful idea! I have the same and lots of kitschy linen too. thousands of ideas but complicated, yours looks like you could achieve it in a fairly easy amount of time. Thanks for the inspiration Happy Girl!

  4. Happy...love it! I saw a great idea on a site the other day!! A bunting!! This one was fabric pieces and every other was a lace piece but I think an all lace bunting would be beautiful..can't you stiffen lace with a product ...like they do when making crocheted snowflakes??? Might be really cool!!

  5. They are very very lovely! I have a lot left from Grandma and afraid to do anything with them. But I will see them like this and no harm done! Really a brilliant idea! Ebru :)

I did this back in February with some of my vintage doilies. I haven't tired of it yet!
