Yes we have a new chair...a lovely new 'retro' chair!
Do you regonize it? Its that one in the left hand corner...that lovely red one!
Well if you have ever sat in the window of a famous fast food restaurant...you will have guessed!.....
Yes this chair is from a Macdonald's restaurant!

My Hubby went shopping the other week, to our local shopping center, and this chair happened to be out the back of the restaurant by the bins!  So he went and got the manager and asked if he could take it! There was another one in Green, but that was really damaged! whereas this one only had a few scratches!
 Any way, they said that he was welcome to it, as it was going to be collected by the bin men any time soon!...so he asked some passers by to help him with putting it in the car and bought it home with him!
It was quite 'grubby' but after a good ole scrub, it turned out perfect!  What a find eh!

Its always a good idea to have your eyes wiiiiide open wherever you are :)

Have you found anything on your travels lately that you have got for free? I'd love to hear about it :)

  2. Good job finding that chair, it looks great! I don't go looking but sometimes things seem to find me! LOL I was out walking and on the side of the road was a small leather bag, it said "western Germany" on it. We have lots of tourists here all the time from all over. So I brought it home. ;D

  10. Smashing find!
    Years ago, I found a 1940's bakerlite bread-bin chucked in a skip. It washed up a treat (-;

  11. Best thing I ever found for free, in a roundabout way, was my suit I wore to get married in. I had a friend whose renters had moved out in the middle of the night and left a bunch of stuff. She let me go through it and I found 6 barkcloth curtain panels. I traded the curtain panels for my wedding suit, circa 1940's.

  17. Well your McDonalds obviously are more stylish than ours, great score! My hubby says I'm a chair collecter, I find them all the time on the curb and bring them home to paint or recover. My best find was a victorian sofa and chair. When are we going to hear what you thought of the wedding?
