Rock Crystal Chandeliers

Everyone likes chandeliers, right? Who wouldn’t? Even the cheap ones always make a table setting or a living room suddenly look grand, and there are so many different styles and inspirations that could work for any home. (Of course, that doesn’t mean I’d recommend a cheap one at all – they might look decent from afar, but a closer look will sometimes show that not everything is as it seems!)

I love chandeliers for my own home and have always gone for vintage ones... Lately I’ve been going through a really artsy and pared back phase and now feel that something more modern and chic would suit my style...

And there is one that really caught my eye recently, and I’d like to share it with you all so that you can check it out for yourself, and maybe let me know what you think?

Timothy Oulton is a furniture designer that specializes in handcrafted vintage-style furniture, with an eclectic body of inspiration that draws from everything from Georgian architecture to the F-14 Tomcat. They always strive to use the best materials, and use simple tools to build every piece.

A piece of theirs that has caught my eye is their Rock Crystal Rain Chandelier, this gorgeous LED chandelier made up of little rock crystals suspended from individual sockets. So many tiny light sources and pieces of crystal make this amazing lighting effect that really has to be seen to be believed! It draws attention to itself but doesn’t take up all that much space, and it doesn’t cast an overwhelming glow, instead producing soft, pleasant illumination.

The chandelier comes in a couple of styles, including a pendant style (coming in 90cm and 120cm diameters) that hangs from a suspended frame, and a flushmount style that merges into the ceiling. Any of them would look amazing, though I personally would prefer the flushmount if I had the time to adjust my ceiling for it!

Tim Oulton also has a couple of other chandeliers worthy of mention, like this incredible Rosen Bridge chandelier mounted inside a gimbal, and inspired by the “wormholes” that Albert Einstein and Nathan Rosen predicted could allow for interstellar travel. There’s also an Inception Pendant that contains an infinity mirror box to create the illusion of endless lights!
