I Had Counselling to Help me be more Happy

I Had Counselling to Help me be more Happy…When I look around and see so many people wearing black! and to be honest I was one of those people!…When I had blonde hair I used to think it suited me and I thought it made me look slim!…but all it was doing was making me feel dowdy and lifeless! I don’t know whether I was having a mid-life crisis or what…but I got rid of a lot of my black and started to wear colour, colour, colour!

Why you ask? What started you off on this Journey?

I had counselling! Yes good old fashioned one to one counselling…A six week course that went on for 10! Oh I am not talking about recently, this was back in 2009 but it was the best thing that could of ever happened to me.  For all you peeps out there that have been advised to have this treatment Go for it!  It totally changed my perspective on life and the way I was thinking! Counsellors are trained to help you think in a way that improves your thoughts, rather than being pessimistic, they show you how to be more optimistic.

The whole process kind of re-birthed me!  I was like a butterfly opening up from a chrysalis…armed with my new tools…my new thoughts and mindset made me more Happy…My Hubby nicknamed me ‘Happy’ because at the time, he thought I moaned a lot and therefore was NEVER Happy!  And it was true! I wasn’t!  I wasn’t getting on with my Mum or my Mother-in-Law! I never thought I was ever understood properly!

Now we are in 2022…so roll forwards 13 years and I always talk about my experience to people!  My daughter always remembers what I was like before, compared to after and my counsellor saw a change in me each week…infact she suggested for me to divorce my hubby and to cut my Mother and Mother-in-law out of my life, but thats a whole other story LOL!  Thing is I’ve realised I am quite a contrary person!  and over the years have managed to patch things up with them, understanding now that life can get everyone down at times…and boy has our family suffered!  I’ve realised that I was put here for a reason in order to look after these people and now I have the best relationship with all my family and I wouldn’t be without any of them now!

So I thought I would show you a sampler of where I am AT with regards to what I wear at the minute! I don’t give a damn whether it is IN fashion or OUT! If I like it I buy it!  I make my own fashion.  And these days I have been wearing a bit more black especially if its from THIS shop! (I love the Happy Sad face stuff!) but I clash it up with bright and bold accessories!  I also wear a lot of asymmetrical tops over long dresses, which can be found in the shops at the moment! I also love wearing a shift dress over leggings with my DM’s and an Orla Kiely Bag! (I’m addicted)

One things for sure, whether it was a mid life crisis or not….I was finally freed of the self doubt and worrying about what people might think about me…I still clash colour, checks with stripes, spots with flowers…and I am happy that way…Happy with myself…Happy with life!

Get rid of your cobwebs girls and start talking to people… Please STOP worrying what people think of you!  Life is SO short!

Wearing colour can help but talking to a counsellor or a close friend will also do the trick….it will hopefully brighten your Life like it did mine and if you ever want to talk to me…I am here xx

Oh and Gals! I still have bright red Hair!  So there is no excuse for you! as the hair colours you can choose from these days is endless! and I’m only 56 years young 🙂 xxx

Love you all xx

I don’t have ANY black clothes, not even in winter. I never wear black on top, I do have black pants and boots, but I always dress it up with LOT’s of color. A scarve or a lovely pin does SO much!!For me only color in my closet, YAY!LOVE pink and wear it almost daily, lol.I agree whole heartedly: you see too much black in the streets! Come out of that closet and start wearing COLOR!!

Well done, Happy – I so agree! It’s one of the downsides of living in France that I look seriously out of place for wearing colours. They take their black really seriously here. I love going back to the UK for that reason alone – just because at least SOME people seem to be able to think outside the box when it comes to colour. Keep spreading the word!
