Do you love Vintage? well you definitely need to visit Brick Lane, as just on the corner is a huge vintage warehouse called Beyond Retro, Now this a Large warehouse/rummage sale type shop that claims to have around 20,000 unique gems for sale, and I can totally believe it….just look at all the wonderful clobber they have for sale![My post was originally written in March 2008 and since then they have opened up a few more stores around the UK so you must visit their website HERE to find out where your local store is. They also have quite a few stores in Sweden too Who Knew!]
So of course we had to pop in and have a look….I had my camera set so that the flash didn’t go off and took all these pic’s to show you what it was like, Fred kept telling me to stop! because they wouldn’t allow it if they knew….but what the heck!….I just couldn’t resist! [NOW they love you taking pictures of their displays and posting it on social media…it’s a totally different world these days isn’t it!]
Honestly girls it’s definitely worth a visit if you live near a store or you fancy coming down for a visit to the Beyond Retro’s flagship shop as it’s the largest store in the Brick Lane vintage clothing scene, offering Londoners and tourists a-like a ‘go to’ destination for retro and ethical clothing in London since 2002…From 50’s dresses to classic vintage Levis, there are up to 20,000 items to browse through, plus a huge discount outlet section, offering a treasure trove of bargain pieces for thrift seekers all year round!
This store also offers the Beyond Retro Exchange programme, which allows you to exchange items for store credit, find out more here
So heres some wonderful pictures that I took back in 2008…a bit blurry now, but you can get an idea of what it was like back then to empower me to write about this amazing place…it’s probably changed heaps now!
This is all so vintage chic….check out those gloves!
And just up my street….Fun Retro Primary colours – I love ’em!
Spot the Jellies!….Honestly folks this was a trip down memory lane….there was many more shoes, heaps of bags and jewellery…there was a mens section with all kinds of accessories for them…..which was great coz while their browzing you can be left alone to look too!……The pretty petticoats took me back to being a girl in the 1970’s, I used to have a ruffly petticoat like that in my dressing up box!…didnt we all!…but did you dance around the living room in it to the Bay City Rollers!! Hmmm P’haps NOT!
WOW look at those!…On the way home I thought I would defintely blog more about the East End….You see Fred is from this part of London and I am from the West End…thats why I always feel at home with ‘cath’! (all of her shops seem to be there!) I think I will blog more about where we came from – it should be interesting as Fred’s family are typical Eastenders, salt of the earth and all that!….and my family are typical Westenders…all very worth blogging about! To be cont’d…
