Here are some easy ways to make more space in your lounge.
Throw out old cushions
Over the years, we tend to accumulate a lot of beautiful cushions which we put on our sofa. As time goes on, we end up with so many which we don’t need. Over time, they can get dirty and tatty! so go over to your sofa and decide on which ones are ready to go in the bin. You can keep a couple, after all, cushions can really add character to a room, but try only to leave a maximum of four. You could always give any old ones to charity so they can sell them on.
Remove ornaments
If you have a fireplace or even a window sill, you can often clutter them up!… Receiving unwanted gifts from Friends can often leed to a clutttered room problem and they can start to take up too much space…Just because you feel too guilty not to have them displayed! Go through all your ornaments and decide if you like them, and if they actually match!… If you don’t feel they enhance the room, consider moving them to another part of the house to make more space. Or you could even give them away to charity or as a birthday present for a friend. (make sure it’s not the friend that gave you it in he first place though! lol!)
Sort your furniture
We tend to go for large sofas which unfortunately take up too much room in the lounge. We think that a bigger sofa is better, but in fact, they often make the sitting room look too crowded. If you don’t have guests over often, it might not be necessary to have a three piece suite. You could cut back to a two seat sofa or even a chair if you live on your own. Check out companies such as lovethesign.com to see what unique seats they have to offer. And you could even sell your old ones, meaning you are making some money!
Remove some photo frames
As much as displaying loads of photos in your lounge is great, they can take up so much space. If you want your sitting room to look less crowded, you should go through your pictures and decide whether you really need them on show. Take a look at your picture frames and make a decision if they do need to be in your lounge. Old photos could be hung on the walls in a collage ensemble to make more space on your dressers …Or you could try Fred’s old trick here and make a scrapbook to keep them all in.
Give your lounge a clean and sort through everything and it will soon be looking fresher and fit for the many summer parties that await.
The sun has been shining and Cindy from Knysna in South Africa got in touch with me and told me all about her wonderful vintage caravan and I asked her if she would like me to feature her on my blog…and she said that she would be delighted! so here we go again with hopefully the start of another year of peeps that want to be featured on my blog with their delicious vintage caravans and vehicles…
Yes vehicles, this year I am going to be adding vintage vehicles to the mix, so if you have a vintage caravan or vehicle that you would like to share with me on my blog, then please do get in touch with me HERE…Enough said already…right let’s drool over her pictures and I’ll hand you over to Cindy at the end!
Dolly the caravan was born in 1975. After spending my childhood
in a caravan playing in there for endless hours I wished that one day when I
was big I could experience having my own caravan
When I saw Happy’s caravan…I had to lay my hands on one asap and start playing again!Dolly found me in the end, as the very awesome guy that sold me her knew how inspired I was with Happy and her Green Holivan that he started looking for me and I didnt have to wait long before he introduced me to Dolly…which as you can imagine…was a dream come true.
After that I had to make her my own and I spent endless days gutting Dolly and loved the challenge of
getting her looking like I invisioned. The walls and floor had old school
70’s tiles glued on, painstakingly I stripped the glue off and then I could start to paint her… Yay!!
Dolly got 3 coats of water based enamel and the wooden floor was painted
checkerboard using the same enamel paint and then I applied a sealer… a month
later Dolly was looking beautiful inside…Then the heavens opened for a week
and I couldn’t wait to paint her outside… I mixed the colours myself and
finally one Sunday morning I woke up to a glorious sunshiny day….
Dolly was first prepped by sanding her down completely and then finally
after an age I could attack her with a good quality primer. Once she was thoroughly dry she got a pretty coat
of paint also using water based enamel…
All the decor pieces inside
was chosen especially for Dolly… Ahhh that was the best part, scouting 2nd hand shops
and painting the furniture and finding all things funky and quirky for her was so
fun! Decorating her with shabby, rusty eclectic pieces felt so rebellious, but I
loved it! Dolly is now home to many visitors far and wide, she doesn’t
travel but travellers have spent many great times visiting her.
Cindy along with her best friend Lauren owns an upcycled furniture and home decor shop in Knysna, SA. They do not have a blog or a website, but below is a picture of the inside of the shop that they both own…
If they ever do start selling online I will definitely let you all know.
Well here’s a BIG Thank you to Cindy for sending me all her beautiful pictures of Dolly and for her interview….If you are inspired by Cindy’s Caravan, then please can you leave a comment below, as this is the only way she will get any feedback for her hard work in creating Dolly.
Thanku xx
.

How to Free Up Space in your Bedroom.
Sometimes when we move into a property, it can have smaller rooms than we would ideally like. And then when we put our stuff in there, it can often end up overcrowded, and look messy. The bedroom can often be the worst as there is so much stuff you would like to put in there. If you want more space in your bedroom, there are some ways to free up space.
Single not double bed
If you want to make room in your bedroom, the best way is to get rid of that double bed that you don’t need. If it’s just you, it’s not necessary to have a double bed. A single bed will still mean you are comfortable. Having a large bed will often leave the area around it looking cramped and messy. By getting a single bed, you will have so much more space to put extra things. And it will make your room look bigger. If you have a guest over, you could always have a blow-up bed on the floor for the night, or they could sleep on the sofa.
Bean Bag rather than a chair
A lot of people like to have some form of seating in their bedroom, but it doesn’t have to be a sofa or even a chair. Save them for the lounge! You won’t be sitting in your bedroom much, and you can always perch at the end of the bed. If you still want something to sit on in your room, you could always get a stool or even a beanbag. A lot of companies are now selling waterproof bean bags which you can put in your room to chill out on. With many people having desks in their room now, you will likely have a computer chair which you can also sit on in your bedroom.
Get rid of old books (Not the Beautiful Antique kind though!)
If you want to make room in your bedroom so it doesn’t look so cramped, you should go through all your stuff. One of the things which tends to take up so much room is old books. They are so heavy and can end up being everywhere. If you haven’t got one, you should buy a bookcase to hold them all in. You need to make sure you go through your old books and decide what you want to keep…Perhaps store them in the hall or along the staircase if you have the room. A lot of people donate books to charities such as Oxfam.
Sort your clothes out
If you want to make room in your bedroom, you should go through your clothes to see if there is any you want to get rid of. It will mean you can make space in your wardrobe for future purchases. Also, if you do give a lot of clothes away, you could replace your wardrobe with a smaller version.
If you follow the above, you will end up making a lot more space in your bedroom, and it will look great!

So ok guys and gals...we have been here before, but I need some advice..I have been suffering with my back for quite sometime now, it's probably because my body shape is more Hardy than Laurel (I have my Nan's Genes) but I have been getting this sciatica pain through my back and down to my knees...don't tell me to diet! until you read THIS post!...
I Want to be Slim NOW and Other News!
Hi there peeps! well I don’t know where last week went! I was hoping to do a couple of posts, but I went over to visit my Mum for Easter and ate a load of things (naughty things! shhhhhh!) that really bloated me out and was all lathargic for the rest of the week! I just couldn’t focus to do anything much!…You know one of those weeks where you find yourself staring at the computer screen and all the pretty things around you…but not really seeing anything that inspires you to write something! hence a lot of the week I spent snoozing on and off!
We seem to be quite good at that! probably where we are contented…Freddy taking a lot of tablets…makes him snooze on and off all day…Max where he is 14 in human years (is it 7 doggy years for every human year?) makes him a ripe ‘ole age of 98…which is good going for a little white westie…well you can imagine sleeps at every opportunity! he doesn’t need much prompting either!
I had been eating rather healthily, because really I would like to loose a lot of weight, and be slim Now but I think I am at that stage in life where it is not going to come off that easily!…it’s going to be a long hard slog! So at first I was so determined and now I am not so because for one eating the right food (although I felt great!) is not good on the bank balance!…(Yes David Cameron…You may mock us all for eating the wrong foods but on your wages you probably don’t notice that healthy food is expensive and unhealthy foods and snacks are actually quite cheap by comparison!) So it’s quite easy to slip back into bad habits…and two, my body is a temple (yes built like the size of one!) I have spent a lot of time and effort over the years to get it looking this way and when i decide that I want to be slim…! I WANT TO BE SLIM NOW!…with no amount of hard labour on my part…as afterall I don’t remember there being much effort getting my body to being this way! SO HELP! OMG! Is that me shouting out loudly! EeK!Herrr! Hmmm! Moving on! swiftly!
Right! so you get my drift, on how I lost the plot last week and hardly anything got done apart from lots of chai latte drinking (you must try that stuff it’s gorgeous!) and a few too many Alpen Light bars got ate (the whole pack in one sitting!) (well they are only 70 calories each for God’s sake! ;)!)
…and Thirdly…my email addresses have all gone up the spout Grrr!I have been with Blueyonder for about 15 years now, but moving to this new house we could only have a BT and SKY package (don’t ask me why…something to do with the builders agreement!) so all week I have been trying out old email addresses and new ones…and being a bit older and craggy these days I have sent a gazzillion emails to just a few people…yep! I have even sent a whole load to myself…thinking I was sending them to the other gazzillion people…OMG my brain is totally DEAD…and I am still not sure whether anything will work.!
So my excuse is that…yes exactly that! I am too old for diets! I have no self control where counting calories are concerned…and my brain is dead from all this new tech! OH GAWD! SERVICE WILL RESUME SHORTLY! LOL! Do you ever get days like this? Or weeks like this…Come and share your idiosyncrasies with me…PLEASE 😉 I NEED ME SOME – ‘GET WITH THE PROGRAM’ GURL TALK!…
