Happy Holidays!

Hello gals I have been away on my holidays and what a fun time I have had! I drove down to Somerset all by myself...and now I feel that i can do anything!...I went to visit my lovely friends Jax and Sean that moved about 18 months ago...and would you look at their lovely 500 year old, Somerset cottage (below).

It is positioned near Church Steps in Minehead, which is such a pretty place, and a ramblers paradise, as it is just on the border of Exmoor National Park. This is the Entrance to their grand cottage...Jax's is a Gardener by trade as you can see by the beautiful flower boxes at the start of this post and also the beautiful front above.

This is the lovely en-suite bedroom annexe that I very quickly settled into...and look at the lovely flowers that she had picked from the garden, for my arrival, she really does spoil you...Jax is one of life's lovely people :) .

...And this is the lovely Lola....she is always sooo happy to see you and although she is only a year old, she is very big, but she still remembers having a cuddle with her mummy as a baby and loves to jump up on you for a hug...ahhh bless her.
Jax showed me around all of her favourite haunts, we visited Porlock (below)

....and as we were passing this lovely cottage - I said 'this one's mine' and as we passed the side gate look what it said!
Hayes Cottage! how strange!
I think I might have to ask them...if they ever sell, to let me know LOL!We visited the beach...

...and Dunster..
We peaked in gardens...

Font sizeshopped till we dropped...
Went for loads of walks with Lola...

We were ladies who lunched! LOL!
We visited Exmoor National Park...
And was lucky enough to see the lovely Exmoor ponies! We took in all the wonderful scenery.

And ate many cream teas!
Then we played 'Changing Rooms'! Jax didnt like the way her rooms were laid out and asked me to help her, you know, to give her house a more homely feel...she had alot of nik naks here and there, so we decided to clear out the junk so you could see her beautiful things! above is how the sitting room was before and below is how I changed it for her!
We used all of her things and only got rid of the 'Happy loves Rosie's' No No's LOL! We looked under the carpet...but there was no nice wooden floor, so Jax will eventually buy a coir mat style carpet to finish the look and also I have told her to paint some of the furniture..!

Also at the car boot we spotted this lovely blue spotty table cloth, purchased for £1.00, plus (not shown) two spotty seat covers for her chairs...this really lifts the kitchen!
Jax's dresser was a little cluttered and one day, whilst she was out Gardening and with her permission, I re-arranged it for her...picking out her lovely items and really showing them off!I have re-arranged their rooms and given them plenty of ideas of what to do with their gorgeous saxon cottage, which was actually 3 cottages made into one house! Lucky things!

This is such a long post....so sorry - but I just had to show you their lovely garden!...I spent alot of time in it and have taken some wonderful piccy's there..They are both very talented people, as well as a gardener, Jax's is also an artist and paints and creates in her home studio, on the premises....getting her inspiration from her surroundings...And Sean is soon to be building a wonderful greenhouse with the help of their 3 gorgeous sons, so that they can grow and nuture plants, hanging baskets and seeds for mail order. If you have fallen in love with their lifestyle...why not book a holiday at Pilgrim Cottage...you will be able to lavish in the luxury of the wonderful ensuite bedroom annexe that I stayed in, and believe me that bed is sooo comfortable!
Prices and details available by emailing Jax at Jacquiboast@hotmail.com

And if you are interested in a house make-over by Happy Harris, please do email me, where I can give you a quote and details...its a fun experience and I can even sort out your wardrobe too! I will even feature you on my blog if you would like that :)

Anyway...I'll leave you all now...I hope you are all enjoying the sunshine...Although I loved my holiday to bits and the lovely company...its good to be back with you all :)

Summer finds......

I have been out and about recently, booting and routing! and have found these wonderful items for our garden....look above and check out that deckchair! I only paid £2.00 for it and it looks lovely sitting there in the corner of our nook - don't you think :) I have covered it with vintage union jack tea towels and thrown a granny blanket on it, to make it cosy for anyone wishing to sit there :)

I have also managed to wonderful geraniums and all different plants for a minimal amount of 'dosh'! and also managed to pick up this lovely low Barbecue, which doubles up as a fire for chillier evenings!

I have also been lucky enough to spot these wonderful brooches, which will make ideal christmas presents for the older members of my family :)

...and below, look at those wonderful blue spot seat covers...all found at my local booty!

...and below, is a wonderful wicker chair that we all fight over to sit in! I spotted this in a local scond hand shop...oOoOh I love being thrifty!

I even managed to get these crocs for a bargain price...I love them for the garden, they are the perfect shoes...apart from when I forget that I haven't got my wellies on! and trundle into the stinging nettles at the back of the garden!

I hope you like our garden...it really is a pleasure to sit out there these days!

...Another wonderful purchase was this umbrella, during our move, we had lost the other end to our red and white spotty, cath kidston brolly...so that weekend, we were lucky enough to pick up this wind down umbrella for £5.00!

I have managed to find tin pots, butler sinks, cast iron pots, crates and all sorts....perfect for planting...do remember that you can also kit out your garden in this thrifty way, you just have to have your wits about you...when everyone else is looking on the tables...look on the floor! thats where the wonders for the garden are!

The weeds and grass are coming through on our patio now...but a friend has suggested getting a weed wizard, which saves your back and burns them away forever! apparently! so I'll let you know how I get on with that when it arrives :)

...and YES I am back...my computer died, after 3 years of using it everday! so I have put it in the loft and said a few prayers...as it is now is in computer heaven!....and as I was so lost without it, my lovely mum has bought me a shiny new one...

Have a great weekend gals...Ill be back in the middle of next week...as I am driving down to Minehead this weekend on my own! (I am rather nervous - wish me luck!) that is the furthest I have ever driven on my own, but I am going to visit my lovely friend Jax, who moved to Somerset over a year ago now and I have only seen her once :( so its the wonderful treat at the end of this long drive, that is making me do it...and I will be so proud of myself :)

See you all soon and have a lovely weekend!

Red Roses to French Enamel....

I have made up this mosaic of some of my VERY OWN favorite pictures!

My Garden and a Fabulous Dresser

Hello gals...I sure do hope you are all well...sorry that I have not been around for a while, its just that my computer that I am sure you all know by now is sick! and this week it suddenly died on me! DRAT I love that thing...I have created so much on it! it is like loosing an arm for me!...any how! I have taken it to the PC hospital and tonight I am borrowing this Macbook from my hubby! Hmmm! I don't like it...it is supposed to be for graphically minded people, but I get and have got soooo FRUSTRATED with it, that it has taken me hours to sort out the pictures! something to do with STARTUP DISK FULL or something! even though hubby hardly stores anything on this thing! Grrrrrrr!
...So these piccys are HUGE and I havn't done anything to them! so be warned! hehehe!
Right as I said a few blogs before, we have been tinkering around in the garden lately buying really cheap plants at bootfairs (some for as low as 20p!) and this is the view of our patio! we have done alot more work to it since, but those piccies are still on my camera...so when my computers fixed I will be able to bring you the next instalment :)

This shelf used to be in our old dining room, but looks wonderful here amoungst all the greenery with pots and pans,,,and you see those wellies...they have a cactus style plant in them...a lady from our local bootsale sells them for £2.00 a pair!

...And these are some of the new additions that we have in the garden...

This lupin (above) which is very large...cost us just £3.00! and there was another one there too! but you know sometimes you just do not have your thinking head on!! I don't know why I never bought them both!
...And I just had to have this wonderful lawnmower! for SHOW and not BLOW of course!
I hope you like it all so far! but we have added so much more to this garden since!...keep checking back here to see what else we have found for it! :)

Oh and I thought you might be interested in this little beauty that we found at the M & M sale (I'll bring you more piccies soon!) Isn't it just sooooo beautiful...look at those windows! We'll we took it home and I gave it a good scrub! and we placed it in our Laundry room/outhouse....and

Its perfect and it looks after all my crafting bits and pieces....I am so chuffed with it!....and check out our union jack tented roof!....How fabulous eh!

Speak soon honey's and have a great weekend :)
